The calendar continues its march toward the first day of fall. For a lot of folks, September means the beginning of the spooky season. For my family, Halloween runs from November 1 through October 31. However, I’ll concede that we might be a little more obsessed than most. Whatever the case, the Halloween season is always special at Walt Disney World. This year will be a bit different, due to the absence of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, but there are still lots of macabre delights to enjoy throughout the parks.

Earlier in the year, Disney announced that this would be the first year that Guests, including adults, can wear costumes inside the park. From September 15 through October 31, Guests of all ages can come to the park in costume. It should be noted that adults are still not allowed to wear character masks, and protective face masks will still be required per Walt Disney World policy.

Though the Boo To You parade will not take place, character cavalcades will still occur and they will be specially themed for the Halloween season. Mickey, Minnie, and others will appear in the cavalcades, dressed in special costumes. Also, keep your eyes peeled for special, costume appearances by Chip n’ Dale in Frontierland.

All of that said, one of the most exciting parts of Halloween in Walt Disney World is the special snacks and souvenirs that are available. This year is no different. Well, that’s not strictly true. In previous years, the majority of souvenir snack items have been found at the Magic Kingdom. This year, they’ll be spread out in multiple parks. Here’s a few highlights:

Tire Pumpkin Novelty Straw: Inspired by Cars Land in Disney’s California Adventure, this straw features a pumpkin that looks like it’s made of tire rubber. Even better? It lights up! You can find the straw at Tamu Tamu, Trek Snacks, Restarauntosaurus, TriloBites, and various ice cream stands in Animal Kingdom. They can also be found at Sunshine Seasons and the Regal Eagle Smokehouse in Epcot.

Purple Cauldron Premium Popcorn Bucket: Popcorn at Walt Disney World is always better than popcorn anywhere else isn’t it? And it’s even better when it comes in a fun bucket. The Evil Queen’s cauldron serves as one of this year’s premium popcorn buckets, and it can be found at Trek Snacks in Animal Kingdom, Eats at EPCOT Experience, and the Mission Space popcorn cart in Epcot.

Oogie Boogie Premium Popcorn Bucket: There aren’t many villains spookier than Mister Oogie Boogie, so it’s no surprise to see him featured in this year’s Halloween souvenirs. This popcorn bucket features the head of Oogie, complete with glowing eyes. You can find it at the Canada popcorn car and the Fife & Drum in Epcot, as well as at a variety of popcorn carts throughout the Magic Kingdom.

Mickey Pumpkin Premium Popcorn Bucket: One of my favorite Halloween decorations at the Magic Kingdom are all the Mickey shaped pumpkins that adorn Main Street USA. You can get a popcorn bucket in the same shape at many of the popcorn stands in the Magic Kingdom.

Oogie Boogie Dice Novelty Glow Cubes: If you’re trying to make fiendish decisions, it helps to have a set of evil dice to roll. That’s how Oogie Boogie does it anyway. You can purchase Oogie Boogie dice cubes for your drink at a variety of quick service restaurants in the Magic Kingdom.

Jack Skellington Sipper: Halloween just wouldn’t be the same without the Pumpkin King. In fact, it probably wouldn’t even exist. This year, you can take Jack Skellington with you in the form of a sipper cup available at various quick service restaurants and stands throughout the Magic Kingdom.
Headless Horseman Rides Again Novelty Straw: The Headless Horseman riding ahead of the Boo to You parade is always a highlight of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Though you can’t see him there, you can get just a taste by purchasing the Headless Horseman straw at Sunshine Tree Terrace. As an added bonus, it comes with a strawberry Dole Whip float.

Hitchhiking Ghost Cinnamon Donut Container: The Ghost Host in the Haunted Mansion always warns visitors to beware of hitchhiking ghosts. They might just follow you home. Honestly, that doesn’t sound too bad to me, especially if said ghost is carrying cinnamon donuts. Fortunately, you can make that happen by purchasing one of these containers at Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn & Cafe.

Next week, we’ll spend some time diving into the snacks available this Halloween season. I’m getting hungry just thinking about the article.
